U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC), A-1-1087

Description
On a shield shaped insignia blazoned; Azure, a Vol Gules, overall a dagger per pale Sable, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border. Attached above is a Black Airborne Tab with Red letters “AIRBORNE”. The overall dimensions are 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.
Symbolism
The Fairbairn Sykes dagger, with upswept red wings forming a spearhead reminiscent of the 1st Special Service Force, symbolizes the unit’s role as the aviation element of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. The Aviation blue (ultramarine blue) shield with black border reflects 1st Special Operations Command lineage, but also serves as a constant reminder that the Command is inseparable from Army Aviation Branch.
Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 12 April 2013.
